| A cause with more direct appeal to the heart was aired in Mira Hamermesh's MAIDS AND MADAMS. An account of the exploitations of black female servants by their white employers in South Africa. It was a calm and understated film , showing that what appears monstrous from the outside, is an ordinary fact of life to insiders, and all the more effective for that. | ||
